She was always yelling at me about my hours, how I'd never spend enough time with her, or her kids. Funny, really, how the hours she "couldn't" spend with me, were spent in the arms of someone else. It's amusing, in its own little way, how the day she decided to leave me for never having enough time, is the day I lose my job, and now have all the free time in the world.

The dashboard radio crackled as Sarah pulled onto the worn dirt road, her old Chevy kicking up dust in the fading sunset. The static cleared just enough to catch the opening chords of "Born to Run," and her heart skipped a beat. Too many years had passed, but that song still took her right back to that perfect summer.

December is so Saturday. So much time off work, everyone's vacationing, schools are out for at least half the month, families come together in union to celebrate and carry out traditions. It's the one time a year that whether you're active (busy gift shopping, catching flights, having snow fights, picking up family from the airport) or taking it easy (indoors, keeping warm, lounging in pajamas, excitedly decorating), you're doing December exactly right.
